Xin Lian Hin Restaurant, located in Taman Continental, Kuala Lumpur, is the brainchild of Jessy Ong, a former star chef from the renowned Yee Fatt. Renowned for its signature curry mee, this Chinese restaurant retains the authentic taste that fans remember, with a creamy, rich broth highlighted by a touch of fiery curry oil. Customers have praised its generous portions, with bowls priced at RM10.50. However, some nostalgic diners feel it may not fully replicate the magic of its predecessor.

The atmosphere is clean and air-conditioned, offering a comfortable space for diners. The service is commendable, though be prepared for some humorous interactions with the friendly elderly staff, as noted by Douglas Chan's review about the need for clear ordering. Beyond curry mee, Xin Lian Hin also features dishes like mak zhuk (sweet wheat porridge), praised for its silkiness and balanced sweetness.

Overall, Xin Lian Hin Restaurant epitomizes a blend of heartfelt culinary tradition and accessible dining, making it a notable stop for those craving comforting Chinese cuisine in Kuala Lumpur.

Xin Lian Hin Restaurant is recognized for its authentic and flavorful Chinese curry mee, featuring a rich, creamy broth with a distinctive layer of spicy curry oil. Patrons appreciate the generous portion sizes paired with reasonable pricing, making it a popular choice for hearty meals. The menu includes a variety of traditional ingredients such as long beans, taupok, pork skin, seafood, and poached chicken or char siew, which contribute to its appeal. While the establishment is noted for its humble, unpretentious setting managed by elderly owners, some customers highlight the need for clear communication when ordering. Overall, the restaurant is praised for its comforting dishes and attentive customer service despite its simple ambiance.

There used to be a truly yummylicious curry mee in Subang Jaya’s SS15, at Yee Fatt kopitiam - right where Ali, Muthu and Ah Hock now stands, just steps from the SS15 LRT station. Anyone from Subang Jaya who frequented Yee Fatt would surely remember its signature curry mee. A rich, creamy broth with just the right consistency, crowned with an irresistible layer of fiery red curry oil — a feast for both the eyes and the palate. It had the unmistakable flair of Ipoh-style curry mee, unsurprising since the lady boss hailed from Ipoh. I was one of its diehard fans. Behind that unforgettable bowl was Jessy Ong, a loyal Yee Fatt employee who helped prepare and cook that legendary curry for years. Eventually, Jessy left Yee Fatt and opened her own place, Lian Hin, in another part of SS15, near the famous Ooi Noodle House. She later moved to Taman Continental in Happy Garden, KL, rebranding it as New Lian Hin, which later became TST when a partner came on board. Less than two years ago, Jessy and her husband, Mr. Tan, relocated once again - this time just across the road. The shop is now known as Xin Lian Hin, still serving her signature curry mee alongside other popular staples. On a recent visit, I ran into Jessy and her husband by chance and took the opportunity to catch up on their entrepreneurial journey since the Yee Fatt days. Hence, this story. Jessy's father, a familiar face, was helping out in the shop too - taking our order. Naturally, I had to order a bowl of her curry mee (RM10.50), hoping to relive that Yee Fatt magic. We had it with wantan noodles - served with chopped chicken, cockles (sadly, a bit small and not particularly plump), pork rind, tau pok, and long beans. The broth was still creamy and satisfying, no doubt - but I couldn't help feeling it lacked the full-bodied punch of the original Yee Fatt version. Maybe my palate has changed. Or maybe memory has faded somewhat. We also ordered a bowl of mak zhuk 麥粥 (sweet wheat porridge) (RM4.30) - and this was excellent. Silky, luscious and perfectly balanced with just the right level of sweetness. Jessy mentioned her bubur cha cha (a Nyonya sweet coconut milk soup featuring yam and sweet potatoes) is even better but only available on weekends and usually sells out fast. As of 13-March-2025, Xin Lian Hin also serves steamed fish, fish head, and a small selection of dai chau 大炒 dishes from 11:30am onwards. Save for another day, perhaps. Atmosphere: Clean, neat, well air-conditioned, with simple decor, conducive for dining. Toilet Score: Surprisingly great! Spotlessly clean like a well-kept home - though the flush wasn’t working. Business Hours: Daily: 7am–4pm (Jessy’s menu of noodles, rice and desserts) Daily: 11:30am–8pm (Steamed fish, etc.) Closed: Every alternate Wednesday

New location (just opposite after the basketball court the old spot) same row as "Hakka Delights" Prawn Noodle shop. The old location is called "New Lian Hin" / "Restoran TST" (it is still there and operating by the same lady cook) and this new location is called "Xin Lian Hin". Basically the old uncle has split with his Business Partner not long after they renovated. He has brought over his same recipe of his popular dishes so the old location should have changes in flavor. Atmosphere: 4 Air-conditioned and more comfy now. More seats now but the gap between tables might be a bit narrow. Used to eat often at the old spot till they renovated and things got pricier. I have been wanting to visit back and surprisingly found them in a new location Service: 3.75 Now they have a proper nice menu and personally I like their Curry Noodle and sometimes chicken rice and pork noodles. Now it seems like they have rendang and other new things like dim sum. Food: Curry Chicken Noodle 3.75 Very tasty as the broth is thick and has deep flavor due to coconut milk and the spiciness is just nice for me. The Hor Fun is a thin type. It will be better if it has more ingredients. Priced at Rm 13.90 as a set (with the soya drink) else it's Rm 10.50 Food: Nasi Lemak 3.75 - Curry Chicken 4, Sambal 3.75, Rice 3.5 Includes a curry chicken, can choose between chicken thigh or drumstick and the taste is very good, flavorful and not spicy. The rice is very fragrant and quite fluffy. The sambal is spicy and also kind of sweet, it's very flavorful. Priced at Rm 16.50 together with Soya Drinks as a set. A bit pricy considering the ingredients. Food; 3 Flavor Chee Cheong Fun 3.25 - Curry 3.5, Sweet 3.25, Red Sauce 1 Almost non existence of the Red Sauce (just slight bit) so its downgraded to only 2 flavor. Anyway, the curry is thick and flavorful and its different than the Curry Noodle's curry. The sweet sauce is also quite good. After mixing, its has a unique/weird Thick Curry with sweet flavor. Priced at Rm 6 Drink: Soya 3.25 Apparently it's home made with no added sugar but it's definitely sweet enough. Interesting packaging that you can take away as well.
